This is also the case here on the Kasberg. High above the Almtal a mountain business has developed that today is far more than a hotel or a restaurant. It is a place where people come together, celebrate, stop by or simply find some distance from everyday life for a while.

The Hochberghaus – a house that to this day lives from hospitality, tradition and a special connection to nature.

The story begins in 1969, when the father of the current operators laid the foundation for the Hochberghaus up here. Many of the original elements have been preserved to this day – above all the cozy parlor with its unmistakable character. Over the years the house was gradually expanded and further developed without losing its original charm.

Anyone who arrives here notices quickly: The Hochberghaus is not a standardized hotel. It is a house with personality – shaped by handcrafted details, Austrian flair and the special atmosphere of a genuine mountain enterprise.

The Kasberg is one of the most important ski and hiking mountains in the region. In recent years the ski operations have been reorganized and economically stabilized. The planned integration of the Almtal-Bergbahnen into the upper Austrian cable car holding is considered an important step for the long-term securing and further development of the location.

With this perspective, winter sports on the Kasberg will also be sustainably strengthened. The slope runs right past the house – guests come from the descent directly into the Hochberghaus. The Schialm directly at the slope has been a popular meeting place for winter sports enthusiasts for many years.

In summer the mountain shows a quieter side. Hiking trails, nature experiences and the view far across the valley shape the surroundings. Families, hikers and people who consciously seek a break find here a place where one gets a special quality.

The Hochberghaus today combines several areas under one roof: hotel operations, gastronomy, wellness, events and nature experience.

The cozy parlors with fireplace atmosphere, the sun terrace with views over the valley and the rustic Schialm directly at the slope create an atmosphere that immediately captivates guests.
A special detail of the latter is that it was built over two summers in traditional handcrafted work. It stands as a symbol for the love of detail and the authenticity that characterize this house.
Also culinarily the Hochberghaus has over the years made a name for itself. The cuisine is down-to-earth and Austrian in character, with regional specialties and popular classics – from hearty pan dishes to the well-known Kaiserschmarrn.

Whoever comes up to the Hochberghaus does not enter a single building, but a place that unfolds over several levels and buildings.

The main building forms the center of the house. Here are the traditional parlors, the central gastronomy area and the large sun terrace from which the view opens far over the Almtal. The guest rooms are located on the upper floors, while the infrastructure of the operation is housed in the lower area.

Directly from the main building you reach the Schialm, which is connected via the kitchen area. In winter it becomes a lively meeting place for winter sports enthusiasts who come in directly from the slope. In this part of the building there is also the seminar and event area, complemented by a platform above the slope that gives events a special setting.

The Familienalm forms another part of the house. It is connected to the main building by an underground corridor and houses additional common areas as well as the wellness area with sauna, relaxation areas, massage room – a quiet retreat after a day on the mountain.

Above the Familienalm there is also an unfinished attic – a room full of possibilities. Perhaps a private suite with a view over the Almtal will one day be created here, an exclusive yoga or fitness area for guests, a small cinema room or a very personal retreat high up on the mountain.

This creates around the Hochberghaus an interplay of lively meeting places and quieter areas – connected to each other, and yet each with its own atmosphere.

Over the decades the Hochberghaus has always been a place where people come together. Festivals, music events and special events have brought this place to life over many years – from brass band festivals to events with several thousand visitors.

Today the Hochberghaus is also used for weddings, celebrations and seminars. The special location on the mountain gives these occasions an atmosphere that is clearly different from classic event venues.

The north slope which runs directly past has always been the best-known family slope, since skiing has been taught here for generations. Ski schools and families are therefore directly on site and use the offer of the Hochberghaus daily.

In 1969 the foundation stone for today's operation was laid on the Kasberg. From an initial opportunity to call in, a mountain operation gradually developed that continuously evolved over the years.

In the 1970s the first guest rooms were created. With the growing ski operations on the Kasberg, the Hochberghaus also developed further.

In the 1980s the Schialm was built – in traditional handcraft and planed by hand over two summers. It quickly became an important meeting point for winter sports enthusiasts.

In the following decades further expansions and improvements were made – from new gastronomic areas to infrastructure measures to wellness and seminar areas.
Today the Hochberghaus is an established mountain operation with hotel, gastronomy, events, wellness and direct location on the slope – supported by more than five decades of history on the Kasberg. Meanwhile there are a total of 51 beds in rooms of various sizes and fittings. Gastronomy with very high quality which specializes in Pfandlgerichte and is known for this across Austria. The wellness area convinces with a sauna offering and furthermore with pre-booked massages.

After more than five decades the Hochberghaus now faces a new chapter. The owners want to hand the house over into hands that appreciate its history and at the same time bring in new ideas. The ongoing operation can be taken over seamlessly – including inventory and a well-coordinated team. This offers a rare opportunity to continue an established mountain operation and gently develop it into the future.

Manche Orte entstehen nicht nach einem Konzept, sondern entwickeln sich über viele Jahre hinweg.
So ist es auch hier am Kasberg. Hoch über dem Almtal hat sich ein Bergbetrieb entwickelt, der heute weit mehr ist als ein Hotel oder ein Restaurant. Es ist ein Ort, an dem Menschen zusammenkommen, feiern, einkehren oder einfach eine Zeit lang Abstand vom Alltag finden.

Das Hochberghaus – ein Haus, das bis heute von Gastfreundschaft, Tradition und einer besonderen Verbindung zur Natur lebt.

Die Geschichte beginnt im Jahr 1969, als der Vater der heutigen Betreiber hier oben den Grundstein für das Hochberghaus legte. Viele der ursprünglichen Elemente sind bis heute erhalten geblieben – allen voran die gemütliche Stube mit ihrem unverwechselbaren Charakter. Über die Jahre wurde das Haus Schritt für Schritt erweitert und weiterentwickelt, ohne seinen ursprünglichen Charme zu verlieren.

Wer hier ankommt, merkt schnell: Das Hochberghaus ist kein standardisiertes Hotel. Es ist ein Haus mit Persönlichkeit – geprägt von handwerklichen Details, österreichischem Flair und der besonderen Atmosphäre eines echten Bergbetriebs.

Der Kasberg zählt zu den bedeutendsten Ski- und Wanderbergen der Region. In den vergangenen Jahren wurde der Skibetrieb neu organisiert und wirtschaftlich stabilisiert. Die geplante Integration der Almtal-Bergbahnen in die oberösterreichische Seilbahnholding gilt dabei als wichtiger Schritt zur langfristigen Sicherung und Weiterentwicklung des Standorts.

Mit dieser Perspektive wird auch der Wintersport am Kasberg nachhaltig gestärkt. Die Piste führt direkt am Haus vorbei – Gäste kommen von der Abfahrt unmittelbar ins Hochberghaus. Die Schialm direkt an der Piste ist dabei seit vielen Jahren ein beliebter Treffpunkt für Wintersportler.

Im Sommer zeigt sich der Berg von einer ruhigeren Seite. Wanderwege, Naturerlebnisse und der Blick weit über das Tal prägen die Umgebung. Familien, Wanderer und Menschen, die bewusst eine Auszeit suchen, finden hier einen Ort, an dem man eine besondere Qualität bekommt.

Viele Gäste kommen immer wieder zurück – wegen der Aussicht, der Ruhe und der besonderen Stimmung, die nur hier vermittelt werden kann.

Das Hochberghaus vereint heute mehrere Bereiche unter einem Dach: Hotelbetrieb, Gastronomie, Wellness, Veranstaltungen und Naturerlebnis.

Die gemütlichen Stuben mit Kaminatmosphäre, die Sonnenterrasse mit Blick über das Tal und die urige Schialm direkt an der Piste schaffen eine Atmosphäre, die Gäste sofort in ihren Bann zieht.
Ein besonderes Detail dieser ist, dass sie über zwei Sommer hinweg, in traditioneller Handarbeit errichtet wurde. Sie steht sinnbildlich für die Liebe zum Detail und die Authentizität, die dieses Haus auszeichnen.
Auch kulinarisch hat sich das Hochberghaus über die Jahre einen Namen gemacht. Die Küche ist bodenständig und österreichisch geprägt, mit regionalen Spezialitäten und beliebten Klassikern – von herzhaften Pfannengerichten bis zum bekannten Kaiserschmarrn.

Wer zum Hochberghaus hinaufkommt, betritt keinen einzelnen Baukörper, sondern einen Ort, der sich über mehrere Ebenen und Gebäude hinweg entfaltet.

Das Hauptgebäude bildet dabei das Zentrum des Hauses. Hier befinden sich die traditionellen Stuben, der zentrale Gastronomiebereich sowie die große Sonnenterrasse, von der sich der Blick weit über das Almtal öffnet. In den oberen Etagen liegen die Gästezimmer, während im unteren Bereich die Infrastruktur des Betriebes untergebracht ist.

Direkt vom Hauptgebäude aus gelangt man in die Schialm, die über den Küchenbereich angebunden ist. Im Winter wird sie zu einem lebendigen Treffpunkt für Wintersportler, die direkt von der Piste einkehren. In diesem Gebäudeteil befindet sich auch der Seminar- und Veranstaltungsbereich, ergänzt durch eine Plattform über dem Hang, die Veranstaltungen einen besonderen Rahmen bietet.

Die Familienalm bildet einen weiteren Teil des Hauses. Sie ist über einen unterirdischen Gang mit dem Hauptgebäude verbunden und beherbergt zusätzliche Aufenthaltsbereiche sowie den Wellnessbereich mit Sauna, Ruheflächen, Massageraum – ein ruhiger Rückzugsort nach einem Tag am Berg.

Über der Familienalm liegt zudem ein noch nicht ausgebautes Dachgeschoss – ein Raum voller Möglichkeiten. Vielleicht entsteht hier einmal eine private Suite mit Blick über das Almtal, ein exklusiver Yoga- oder Fitnessbereich für Gäste, ein kleiner Kinoraum oder ein ganz persönlicher Rückzugsort hoch oben am Berg.

So entsteht rund um das Hochberghaus ein Zusammenspiel aus lebendigen Treffpunkten und ruhigeren Bereichen – verbunden miteinander, und doch jeweils mit eigener Atmosphäre.

Über die Jahrzehnte hinweg war das Hochberghaus immer auch ein Ort, an dem Menschen zusammenkommen. Feste, Musikveranstaltungen und besondere Events haben diesen Platz über viele Jahre hinweg belebt – von Blasmusikfesten bis hin zu Veranstaltungen mit mehreren tausend Besuchern.

Heute wird das Hochberghaus auch für Hochzeiten, Feiern und Seminare genutzt. Die besondere Lage am Berg verleiht diesen Anlässen eine Atmosphäre, die sich von klassischen Veranstaltungsorten deutlich unterscheidet.

Der Nordhang welcher direkte vorbeiführt war schon immer der bekannteste Familienhang, da hier seit Generationen das Skifahren beigebracht wird. Skischulen und Familien sind somit direkt vor Ort und nutzen das Angebot des Hochberghauses täglich.

Manchmal sind es nicht die großen Ereignisse, sondern die kleinen Augenblicke, die einen Ort unvergesslich machen.
Ein Wintertag, an dem die ersten Skifahrer direkt von der Piste einkehren, während draußen langsam der Nachmittag über den Kasberg zieht.
Ein Sommerabend auf der Terrasse, wenn der Blick weit über das Almtal reicht.
Das Knistern des Kamins in der Stube, während Gäste nach einem langen Tag am Berg zusammensitzen und erzählen.
Oder eine Hochzeit, bei der sich Familie und Freunde versammeln und ein Tag entsteht, den viele noch lange in Erinnerung behalten.

Über viele Jahre hinweg sind hier oben genau solche Augenblicke entstanden – und sie sind es, die das Hochberghaus für zahlreiche Gäste zu einem Ort machen, an den man immer wieder gerne zurückkehrt.

1969 wird am Kasberg der Grundstein für den heutigen Betrieb gelegt. Aus einer ersten Einkehrmöglichkeit entsteht nach und nach ein Bergbetrieb, der sich über die Jahre kontinuierlich weiterentwickelt.

In den 1970er-Jahren entstehen die ersten Gästezimmer. Mit dem wachsenden Skibetrieb am Kasberg entwickelt sich auch das Hochberghaus weiter.

In den 1980er-Jahren wird die Schialm errichtet – in traditioneller Handarbeit und über zwei Sommer hinweg handgehobelt. Sie wird schnell zu einem wichtigen Treffpunkt für Wintersportler.

In den folgenden Jahrzehnten entstehen weitere Erweiterungen und Verbesserungen – von neuen Gastronomiebereichen über Infrastrukturmaßnahmen bis hin zu Wellness- und Seminarbereichen.
Heute ist das Hochberghaus ein etablierter Bergbetrieb mit Hotel, Gastronomie, Veranstaltungen, Wellness und direkter Lage an der Piste – getragen von mehr als fünf Jahrzehnten Geschichte am Kasberg. Mittlerweile findet man insgesamt 51 Betten in Zimmern mit verschiedenen Größen und Ausstattungen. Gastronomie mit sehr hoher Qualität welche sich auf Pfandlgerichte spezialisiert hat und dafür quer durch Österreich bekannt ist. Der Wellnessbereich überzeugt mit einem Sauna Angebot und darüber hinaus mit vorangemeldeten Massagen.

Nach mehr als fünf Jahrzehnten steht das Hochberghaus nun vor einem neuen Abschnitt. Die Eigentümer möchten das Haus in Hände übergeben, die seine Geschichte wertschätzen und gleichzeitig neue Ideen einbringen. Der laufende Betrieb kann nahtlos übernommen werden – inklusive Inventar und einem eingespielten Team. Damit bietet sich eine seltene Gelegenheit, einen etablierten Bergbetrieb weiterzuführen und behutsam in die Zukunft zu entwickeln.
