Lagos is known for its historic old town with city walls, its cliffs and its breathtaking Atlantic beaches. The sandy cove Praia do Camilo can only be reached via steep wooden stairs.

From the cliffs of Ponta da Piedade there is a magnificent panoramic view of the peninsula and the lighthouse located there. The magnificent church Igreja de Santo António, built in the 18th century, is located opposite the Castelo dos Governadores, a fortress with a baroque façade and watchtowers.

Lagos’s well-preserved old town offers you, in addition to historical sights, cultural facilities, restaurants, cafés and shopping opportunities of all kinds. Tourists shape the scene at any time of year and among the local shops British pubs, discos and a German bakery have also settled.
