The printed property advertisement looks clear on the desk. In the shop window it hangs behind a reflective pane among several other listings. From the position on the pavement the contact person can be read, but it is no longer recognisable which flat the adjacent contact belongs to. The print proof alone did not test this reading path.
The following procedure is a recommendation for property displays in Austria and Germany. It does not state any statutory font sizes, does not guarantee accessibility and does not replace a local inspection of permissible advertising installation. All examples are fictitious.
Design the individual listing as a recognisable unit
A display should clearly show which property and which type of offer are meant. Essential classifications belong to the respective panel. An image of a proposed layout does not receive its explanation only on another sheet further down in the window.
In the fictitious example rental and purchase offers hang next to each other. The team therefore checks whether the individual amounts clearly belong to the respective type and unit. The common brand does not replace this property allocation. A central office contact also requires a comprehensible way to specify the intended listing in the event of an enquiry.
Test the intended location with the actual printout
The test uses the actual output intended for the actual location. A person who does not know the design views it from a permissible publicly accessible vantage point. They should be able to identify the type of property, the type of offer and essential classification and find the next step.
Position, time and concrete observation are noted. In the example a reflection in the afternoon just overlays the area with the property reference. A closer view from inside the office would not have shown this finding. Nevertheless the single observation time point is not presented as a test of all lighting and usage situations.
Address a deviation in the reading problem
A new arrangement can be more sensible than uniformly reducing everything. Which statements must remain discernible from the intended position? Which additional details can be offered via a clearly labelled further route? The editorial team does not remove an essential restriction merely because it is inconvenient in the layout.
After the change the same procedure is reconsidered. A passed print test in the office is not used as substitute evidence. The concrete installation must still be demonstrable.
Enable contact independently of a single technology
A digital reference can provide additional information. However, the person should understand where it leads and which listing it refers to. The display is not made self-explanatory by an unlabelled code alone.
The responsible body checks the intended contact route and the corresponding property allocation. Changes to the offer status are reconciled with the actual display, not only saved in the working file.
The completion criterion is a traceable route from the physical listing to the correct contact. A nice sheet is not sufficient for this; the decisive test takes place where the information is actually read.
