An Austrian property exposé is easy to read on a large screen. For the viewing it should now be available as a printed folder. On the first printout part of the plan legend disappears and fine lines are barely distinguishable. A screen share does not yet answer this new printing task.
The following print proof is an editorial method of our own. It does not confirm a dimensionally accurate construction plan nor the suitability of every printing device. The example is fictitious.
Specify the concrete output before the proof
Name the PDF version and the actual paper format intended. Also record the printing environment used and the scaling option chosen. This keeps it traceable which combination was tested.
Adobe describes that the Fit to Printable Area option can enlarge or reduce pages to the printable area. Actual size output omits scaling; areas that do not fit may be cut off. A custom percentage value also changes the output. [Q1] The selection therefore belongs to the substantive print check.
Check critical information rather than the overall impression
Our recommendation is a genuine printout of the intended version. Read in particular legends, ancillary notes and the assignment of lines. Crucial is whether the information remains understandable without the additionally opened screen file.
In the fictitious case the right margin zone contains the explanation of a plan marking. In the print proof part of this zone is missing. The editorial team documents the page, the affected explanation and the actual setting. It does not rate the printout positively merely because the photo and headline are fully visible.
Do not declare a print correction as proof of dimensions
If the page size is changed, depicted distances can turn out differently. Measured distances on the exposé are not used here as confirmed object dimensions. A technically unscaled output likewise does not prove that the plan used is suitable as a dimensionally accurate basis.
Necessary object details require their own evidenced source. The print proof checks their legibility and assignment, not their factual correctness or the underlying survey. A printed scale is therefore not turned into a measuring tool of its own without further clarification.
Keep correction and renewed proof together
The production receives a page-related assignment: which detail is lost, under which output and how should the information remain accessible? Bluntly enlarging can create new breaks or cut-off margins elsewhere.
After processing the new version is checked again with the intended output. If the paper format or the printing method changes, the previous approval must be related to that altered use. The named sample documents an actual readable printout in the end. It is not a blanket release of any later copies and does not replace either a factual plan check or the independent control of digital PDF usage.
