When preparing for a change of tenant, the apartment file gives an electricity meter number. The label visible on site shows a different identifier. A handwritten apartment name on the cupboard, in turn, contradicts an older photo. Do not now pass on an allegedly matching number as a confirmed basis to the new tenant. First it must be clear which details are to be compared at all.
Distinguish three different pieces of information
Wien Energie distinguishes the number of the measuring device from the identifier of the point of supply (Entnahmestelle). The device identifier is on the meter; both pieces of information can be read in the annual statement or the detailed invoice. [WE] A meter number and a metering point number therefore do not have to be the same character string.
Also assign the meter reading separately. Note the source, the actual date and the designation used there. Transcribe identifiers character for character. A photo without a recognisable connection to the device in question remains, for the time being, an unresolved find.
Formulate the discrepancy as a concrete question
E-Control assigns household meters to the network operator as a rule and states that the network operator is responsible for maintenance and reading. [EC] Put this specific assignment question to them with the necessary documents. In the Vienna provider example Vienna Energie also refers further questions to Wiener Netze. [WE] For another property the network operator who is actually responsible must be used.
Your own editorial preparation is: which apartment identifier appears in which document, which device identifier is visible and since when does the contradiction exist? Unknown earlier conversions or meter changes are handled as questions. Do not invent an explanation just so the file already looks complete.
A case with an outdated sticker
In the fictional case a landlord finds an old apartment designation on a sticker. He cannot initially determine whether the sticker is obsolete or the file contains an incorrect number. The new tenant therefore receives the information that a concrete assignment is still being clarified.
The landlord presents the conflicting details to the network operator and requests a comprehensible confirmation for the apartment concerned. He does not ask the tenant to perform any switching attempts himself and does not open any technical covers. The article does not contain any electrotechnical testing instructions.
Trace the response back to the correct documents
After a confirmed assignment you check which of your own handover documents or already communicated details are affected. Keep the earlier information and its correction comprehensibly together. A new protocol line alone does not correct a previously concluded energy contract or a third-party invoice; the affected parties must clarify the respective matter separately.
If an earlier reading or the start of a misassignment remain open, mark that boundary precisely. Do not use an invented cut-off date. The completed organisational process needs a confirmed assignment and an overview of the remaining follow-up questions. It does not confirm reimbursement of costs or legal responsibility for earlier incorrect information.
