The flat is located high up, and the listing says there is a lift. That can make the initial access easier, but it does not yet answer how your future household will operate. What distance remains before and after the ride? Which tasks for you depend on exactly this connection? A high location should be assessed together with its actual building access.

Follow the normal route in full
Start at the entrance actually used. At the agreed appointment, take the route that has been authorised for use to the offered flat and pay attention to where the lift actually stops. Steps before boarding or between the stop and the flat belong to the same route chain.
Record what you yourself observed and what explanation you received about it. Another building entrance, a second lift or a side door is only a reliable alternative if its allocation and use are clarified concretely. This text does not derive any entitlement from a visible access.
Which daily activities depend on the ride?
Our recommendation: Do not simply describe “lift important”, but your regular tasks. How do purchases get to the flat? Which personal aids or pieces of equipment are needed? How do the people actually living there get home? The requirements can differ within the same household.
If a person intends to use the existing route themselves, the question of their suitability should not be answered only by an accompanying person. For technical or individual support questions, appropriate specialist advice should be obtained. A single ride does not confirm permanent functionality or future availability.
Do not turn the observed operation into statistics
You may hardly have to wait at the appointment. Perhaps it is very busy. Both describe that moment in time. Ask about the organisational handling of maintenance, reported faults and known planned works, insofar as information on these can be provided.
Do not infer a failure rate from a single piece of information and do not take a friendly promise as uninterrupted availability. For your choice it is more important whether a known limitation falls within your move-in period and how you could concretely organise the tasks affected as a result. Which contractual claims exist is a separate examination.
Hypothetical comparison: The flat fits, the prerequisite does not yet
Lina finds a flat in the upper part of a residential building. For her household a reliably plannable access solution is essential. At the appointment she learns of intended works on the lift, but does not yet receive a clear statement about the period and the actual access during it.
She does not automatically reject the offer. However, she treats the unresolved operational period as an essential prerequisite and asks for the related information. She does not plan hypothetical assistance from neighbours as a secured service. She only compares the offer with the actual state of knowledge and her own possibilities.
Prepare furniture transport separately
The fact that you and your shopping bag can use the lift does not mean that a particular piece of furniture can be transported or may be transported. Dimensions, operating conditions and the appropriate responsibility are clarified for the actual transport. Unauthorised blocking or misuse of an installation is not part of this flat inspection route.
Distinguish this one-off move-in question from your daily access requirement. A suitable removal company can, if necessary, handle a transport question; that does not automatically resolve a regularly unsuitable everyday access. Both issues remain identifiable in comparison.
Conscious dependence instead of a tick in the listing
Note at the end which activities depend on the existing connection and which alternative procedure is actually clarified for you. It is neither necessary nor possible to eliminate every future operational fault in advance. You decide whether the known conditions and the remaining uncertainty are compatible with your household.
A flat high up can be a very good fit. Your decision will only be more precise if it is based on the complete access and the actual requirements, rather than solely on the visible lift door.
