A small box is supposed to be plugged into any socket and then reduce the electricity bill for the entire household. The advertising shows a high percentage and explains that the device stabilises the power flow. Before you pay, check the concrete savings claim and its proof. The simple appearance does not make the promised effect more comprehensible.
Record the claim precisely
The Federal Network Agency warned on 24 November 2022 about supposed energy-saving devices in online trade. In the socket boxes checked at that time it found numerous defects and described the saving effect as questionable. [BOX] This is a warning about devices checked and corresponding promises from 2022, not a proof here of a ban on every product offered in 2026 with a similar name.
Our editorial recommendation: therefore record exactly what the current offer actually promises. An absolute euro saving, a percentage value or merely a measuring function are different statements. Someone who only wants to find out which household appliance uses a lot needs a comprehensible measurement task; the advertised reduction of the entire bill is a different claim.
Relate the evidence to exactly this effect
Please ask the provider for an understandable proof for the claimed household savings of the specific model. Under which conditions was what compared? Which components of electricity costs does the claim include? Can the explanation be related to the device actually offered?
A customer comment or a visible mark on the packaging does not by itself answer this question of effect. In its test purchases at that time the Federal Network Agency found, among other things, false labelling and missing German-language instructions or responsible contacts. [BOX] This article does not check a current product mark and does not claim its own electrical examination.
Clarify uncertainty before plugging in
If evidence or responsible parties remain unclear, postpone the purchase. An unknown box will be neither opened nor electrically altered for a private test. Even plugging in a dubious device as a trial is not a required preparation for a consumer decision.
Instead you can investigate the actual consumption of a specific usage with suitable advice or an appropriate measurement task. This possibility is not proof of the effect of the offered box and is not a reason to use any measuring device without testing its suitability.
Fictional case: Many stars, no suitable proof
A household receives on enquiry only a collection of reviews and a general diagram. A comprehensible proof of the promised total savings of the offered model is missing. They do not order for the time being and turn their attention to their actually high usage of individual appliances.
The decision does not require a self-built electrical measurement. It requires an understandable proof for exactly the performance you are supposed to pay for.
