For the new loan you have taken the outstanding balance (Restschuldbetrag) from an older statement. The actual repayment (Ablösung) is to take place later. Even if the old figure was correct at the time, it still does not explain the cash requirement on the new date. This case helps you to clearly attribute the required information. It does not calculate any prepayment penalty (Vorfälligkeitsentschädigung) and does not decide any question of termination.
Name every amount with its date
Assign the old statement its relevant date. Add the intended repayment date and the instalments actually planned up to that point. Request from the previous provider the amount applicable to the concrete transaction and the associated conditions.
An internal projection can serve as guidance. It must be explicitly labelled as an estimate. Unresolved interest, costs or differing payment dates must not be dealt with by applying an arbitrarily small surcharge. The new financing requires a confirmed and temporally fitting requirement.
Explain a hypothetical difference
The old summary shows 145.000 euros. The repayment statement presented for the actual day cites, in the hypothetical case, 145.650 euros. For your cash planning this initially results in a difference of 650 euros. You let the statement clarify which individual items account for this.
If the new loan provides exactly 145.000 euros for the repayment, the difference is not covered by the old summary. It requires an actually available additional source or a professionally coordinated alternative arrangement. This article does not assume the correctness of a real claim for costs nor any obligation of the new bank to increase its amount.
Trace the process between the parties
Record who requests the statement, who receives it and which confirmed amount is used in the new plan. If the appointment is postponed, expressly ask about the continued validity of the previous figures. A newly entered calendar date does not automatically change the amount in the bank document.
Do not transfer an estimated sum on your own initiative while a coordinated repayment is being prepared. Agree the payment channels with the responsible parties. The aim is a clear attribution, not a second parallel payment attempt.
Check the new opening balance after the repayment
Keep the closing information of the previous financing and the opening balance of the new one together. Compare the amount actually paid, remaining own funds and new liability. Any later discrepancy will be explained and documented.
This turns the vague term outstanding balance (Restschuld) into a quantity usable for the transaction: amount, date, included items and confirmed payment route. Only these details close the gap between an old estimate and the repayment actually planned.
