For a repair visit in an occupied rented flat, access has already been agreed. The tenant keeps a pet. During the preparation it becomes apparent that the previously considered accommodation during the work does not fit the actual route of the work. You clarify this concrete discrepancy with the parties involved before the appointment.
Only make the arrangements necessary for this visit
Ask the person who owns the pet which care they intend to organise for the agreed period. Clarify with the specialist company which rooms and routes are needed for the announced work. The suitable accommodation and handling of the animal are determined by the persons responsible for that; the landlord does not invent a fixation or treatment method for this.
The guidance presupposes clarified pet ownership and agreed access. It does not decide any contractual question and does not make an accompanying person or an executing specialist responsible for pet care by a casual message.
Actually check the supposed alternative room
In the hypothetical case the cat is to be looked after in the bedroom during work in the bathroom. The specialist company informs before the visit that it will also need access through this room for the agreed inspection. The partition originally named therefore no longer fits.
The landlord passes this information on to the pet owner. Together another actually possible arrangement for the care during the working period is agreed. If no suitable solution is confirmed, this point remains open before the start and the further procedure is newly agreed with the responsible parties. A room is not considered available simply because it was mentioned in the first phone call.
Record the short shared appointment basis
The parties need the same understandable position on four points:
- Which person organises the pet care?
- Which areas and routes does the announced work require?
- Which door and access arrangements are actually agreed for this?
- Whom can the specialist company reach if the scope of work changes?
Record the information necessary for the procedure. A general pet profile or private details about the household do not automatically help with this concrete coordination.
Do not let changes be resolved solely by the person providing access
If an additional room requirement arises during the visit, the pet owner is involved via the agreed contact. A person who merely opens the flat should not promise unresolved pet care or a new accommodation. Medical questions and the safe, concrete handling belong to suitable specialists.
Explicitly end the care period
At the agreed conclusion it is clarified with the parties which areas are usable again and whether further work will follow. The person responsible for this takes over the further handling of the pet. For a follow-up appointment any necessary change is recorded concretely.
The result is an executable visit with confirmed care and a suitable work route. A blanket discharge from liability or the claim that this arrangement excludes all risks is not part of it.
