You want to terminate an existing savings contract for a planned property purchase. The statement shows a balance, and there may also be an additional later benefit described. For your decision you need the amount actually available at the desired termination and the date. The largest figure in the document is not automatically the payout today.
Name the current value according to its meaning
Write down from the actual documents which amount has already been credited and which depends on further conditions. Ask for a concrete statement for the intended termination. The article does not assert any general notice periods, loss of subsidies or bonus rules for savings products. Such consequences differ by contract and will be clarified separately.
A continuation calculation must use the same starting point. Money already paid in from your own funds, further necessary payments and any possible later return are shown separately. It would be unfair to compare only the later final amount with the payout today and to forget the contributions still required.
The fictitious comparison
In the purely invented case there is a balance of 20.000 euros today. A binding assumed statement names 19.700 euros as the actual payout at the chosen termination. For another variant of continuation, here only hypothetical, 21.600 euros would be available after one year, but a further 1.200 euros would have to be paid in during that year.
The difference of 1.900 euros between the two payouts is therefore not entirely additional return. After deducting the further payment required, 700 euros would remain in the simple unweighted comparison. Different timings, taxes and a possible alternative financing are not yet assessed in this simplified calculation. No figure is a genuine product offer.
Check the purchase timing as a second condition
The later variant only helps the specific purchase if the need for funds matches it. A bridging arrangement must be checked with actual availability and costs. Its price is not assumed to be zero in order for a hoped-for contractual advantage to remain.
Conversely, a rapid contract termination is not automatically an appropriate response to time pressure. Have actual payout consequences confirmed before you give up an existing route. Your own deadline note is not an inflow of money.
Record the chosen variant in full
Note the payout amount, date, additional contributions, specific costs and any remaining consequences. The decision may also be that a purchase plan with this source of funds is not yet clarified in terms of timing.
This turns the comparison from an apparent balance contest into a declared question of cash flow. For a real product decision, the actual contractual and, where applicable, tax conditions are decisive, not the bonus and payout figures invented here.
