A larger payment has been received. The account balance suddenly looks comfortable, and the planned housing payment seems easier. For your decision it is important whether the payment increases existing assets or is intended to recur regularly. Those are different tasks within the same financial planning. No statement is made here about bonus entitlements, social benefits or taxes.
Record the stock at a fixed date
Note the amount actually available after the deductions and obligations that you have already clarified. Name the source without assuming it will recur. A one-off receipt may appear in the assets overview. In a plan of regular income it receives its own line with the actual date.
Important is the connection of both views: if the amount is already included in the opening balance, it is not added again as a future receipt in the period considered. Otherwise money is created purely by the layout of the table.
An invented case with two uses
A household has so far 12.000 Euro available. A one-off payment of 8.000 Euro increases the stock to 20.000 Euro. Of that, 6.000 Euro are to go towards the purchase. Under these assumptions 14.000 Euro remain.
In the monthly plan there is a regular shortfall of an assumed amount of 200 Euro after the new housing burden. If the one-off payment is used to cover this, 2.400 Euro will be consumed after twelve months. The stock is then correspondingly lower. The 8.000 Euro cannot at the same time be entirely a purchase contribution, an untouched permanent reserve and an annually recurring income.
Distinguish a deliberate bridge from a permanent model
A temporary withdrawal can be part of a limited transition. An end point is needed for this: which actual change is supposed to end the recurring gap? If this change is unclear, state that openly. The account balance alone does not resolve the ongoing shortfall.
Construct two trajectories: one with the planned transition and one without the hoped-for later increase in income. Do not use invented probabilities. The second calculation shows how long the existing stock lasts according to your assumptions and which other purposes thereby lose their funding.
Formulate the conclusion as a decision
Summarise which part is to be used as purchase funds, which is intended for specifically described expenses and which remains freely available. If ongoing financing only works through constant depletion of assets, that exact information belongs in individual advice. A high account balance is an important starting point. It is not an automatic confirmation of a permanently appropriate housing payment.
